Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join its team in Tanzania as a Research Intern. This is a valuable opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in applied research, data collection, and public policy evaluation. The role supports the Working Together for Change – HiH Project, offering a practical foundation for a future career in international development and research.
Position Summary
The Research Intern will support project teams in the design, implementation, and dissemination of research activities. The role includes conducting literature reviews, assisting in data collection and analysis, preparing reports, and managing logistics. The intern will work closely with researchers and field teams to ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of project outcomes.
Responsibilities
1. Project Development (40%)
- Support in drafting endline questionnaires, including updates to baseline content and integration of new research questions related to community meetings.
- Assist in writing IPA contributions to the next grant report to the Fund for Innovation and Development (FID).
- Attend community meetings with IPA and HiH staff and prepare detailed event memos.
2. Research Support (40%)
- Collaborate closely with IPA research staff and contribute meaningfully to internal discussions.
- Help organize research-related activities such as meetings, workshops, and field visits.
3. Administrative & Miscellaneous Tasks (20%)
- Perform additional tasks and take on special assignments as requested by the Research Associate.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a Master’s program and holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Public Policy, International Development, or related fields.
- Experience with literature reviews, data analysis, and data collection techniques.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in STATA, R, Python, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated time management skills and ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- High standards of professionalism, integrity, and adherence to research ethics.
