Job Purpose

As Logistics Officer (Consultant Level II), you will support WFP’s logistics operations in Tanzania and regional corridors. You will provide technical expertise to improve supply chain efficiency, enhance storage and handling, and strengthen food systems in collaboration with public and private partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and implementation of logistics initiatives.
  • Analyze data to forecast supply chain needs and improve efficiency.
  • Oversee vendor contracting, transport, and warehouse operations.
  • Monitor financials and budgets, ensuring optimal fund utilization.
  • Supervise logistics staff and support emergency operations.
  • Develop partnerships to enhance food value chains and reduce losses.
  • Support cold chain systems, food fortification, and quality assurance.
  • Provide technical guidance on logistics and food technology policies.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Advanced university degree in Transport Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • First degree with additional years of experience may be accepted.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of relevant post-graduate experience in supply chain/logistics.
  • Experience in humanitarian logistics, public-private partnerships, and emergency coordination.
  • Proven experience managing complex transport and warehouse operations.
  • Familiarity with working in inter-agency emergency responses.

Languages:

Fluency in English and the language of the duty station.
