The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading humanitarian organization founded in 1956, providing support to displaced people across more than 40 countries. Since 2015, DRC has been implementing emergency response projects in Tanzania’s Kigoma Region, focusing on sectors including Camp Coordination and Management, Protection, Shelter and Infrastructure, and Economic Recovery.
DRC is currently looking for a Finance Assistant to join its team in Kibondo. The position supports the finance team by handling financial and administrative responsibilities in line with DRC and donor regulations. Key Responsibilities
Finance and Accounting
- Perform daily accounting and bookkeeping as per DRC operational guidelines
- Manage petty cash, including issuing receipts and clearing cash advances
- Ensure all payment documentation is complete and compliant with internal policies
- Update cashbooks daily and reconcile bank accounts
- Process vendor payments, statutory payments, and incentive worker payments
- Handle tax payments and ensure timely compliance
- Prepare and maintain proper financial records, filing, and document tracking
- Utilize DRC Dynamics for invoicing, expense journals, and payment processing
- Support financial audits and donor verifications
- Maintain and update payment tracker and cash balance reporting
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in financial and administrative work
- Prior experience in NGO settings preferred
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel; basic skills in PowerPoint and Word
- Familiarity with financial systems such as DRC Dynamics is a plus
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Fluency in English and Swahili
