CSI Energy Group is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer to join our team at Mnazi Bay, Mtwara. This role is essential in leading toolbox talks, enforcing HSE protocols, ensuring compliance, and protecting every stakeholder involved in our projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Management
- Act as a liaison between the project team and internal departments.
- Conduct toolbox talks and enforce the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance is maintained across the project.
- Investigate any incidents or accidents thoroughly.
- Promote and champion a culture of safe systems of work.
- Participate in all client-scheduled safety meetings.
2. Planning
- Identify potential risks and propose mitigation measures.
- Provide expert advice on safety procedures at project startup.
- Monitor compliance with engineering and safety standards.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure OSHA law compliance in Tanzania.
3. People and Relationship Management
- Supervise and mentor project teams on HSE best practices.
- Train both internal operations staff and subcontractor teams.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with all site personnel.
4. Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and submit daily and weekly HSE reports.
5. Budget Management
- Monitor and document the usage of disposable personal protective equipment (PPE).
6. HSEQ
- Set a positive example in all HSE behavior and initiatives.
- Stay updated on performance and accident prevention measures.
7. Compliance
- Comply with CSI Energy Group’s policies and all relevant laws and regulations.
8. Additional Duties
- Execute any additional tasks assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications
Education:
- Certificate in Health and Safety from a recognized institution or equivalent.
- Additional qualifications in HSE and Fire & Safety Management Systems are highly desirable.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience on a construction site in a safety-related role.
IT Skills:
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
- SAP knowledge is an added advantage.
Languages:
- Fluent in English and Swahili (spoken and written).
