About the Function

Our Supply Chain and Manufacturing team sources, produces, and delivers globally recognized brands. With over half of Diageo’s 30,000+ people working in this area, it’s an intricate network covering production sites in over 30 countries. The team is central to the success of our ‘Society 2030: Spirit of Progress’ goals, emphasizing sustainability, environmental protection, and support for suppliers.


Scope of the Role

To plan, organize and direct packaging operations, including maintenance, to deliver packaged volumes in line with sales forecasts. This role ensures efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production of SBL brands to meet both domestic and export demand. The Packaging Manager is also responsible for interdepartmental alignment and overseeing the full bottling line process, including people management.


Purpose of the Role

Provide strategic leadership for packaging operations to achieve best-in-class performance across key areas, including:

  • Safety of people and operations
  • Environmental responsibility
  • Compliance with legal and internal standards (Diageo/EABL/SBL procedures, quality systems such as ISO, FSCC)
  • Quality assurance

  • Continuous performance improvements in cost, quality, and efficiency


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the entire packaging department team
  • Ensure timely, safe production aligned with the production plan and quality standards
  • Ensure legal and internal policy compliance across all packaging operations
  • Drive continuous improvements in service, efficiency, cost, and safety
  • Deploy MMS through embedding BP in WoW and process confirmation
  • Control departmental costs and minimize operational losses
  • Manage inventory handovers from brewing to packaging and then to warehousing, ensuring accurate SAP system updates
  • Plan team schedules, overtime, and manage absenteeism
  • Evaluate team performance, coach, and develop team members
  • Identify training needs and deliver appropriate programs
  • Ensure full adherence to quality standards like ISO, HACCP, FSCC
  • Maintain reliability of packaging processes through proper and timely autonomous maintenance and resolution of breakdowns


Qualifications and Experience Required

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering
  • Master Brewer or IBD certification is an added advantage

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in the brewing/packaging industry
  • Strong familiarity with production, quality, and maintenance practices in the FMCG industry
  • Experience with quality systems, food safety, and OHS management

  • Strong data management and analysis skills
