About the Judicial Service Commission (JSC)
The Judicial Service Commission is a constitutionally established body governed by Article 112(1) of the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, 1977, in conjunction with the Judicial Management Act, Chapter 237. Prior to the unification under this Act, the JSC and a separate Special Judicial Service Commission were responsible for different levels of court personnel. Today, the Commission oversees all employment and disciplinary matters concerning judicial officers across the country.
JSC also manages ethics through delegated powers to various Ethics Committees which investigate complaints against judges, magistrates, and non-judicial officers, submitting reports to the Commission for further action.
