Job Title: Technical Services Manager
The Technical Services Manager will serve as the strategic leader for Engineering and Utilities functions at the Brewery, including managing environmental plant operations. The role ensures that all equipment and systems adhere to relevant standards and legislation and supports the implementation of corporate governance across technical departments.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Safety and Environment
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and risk-free working environment
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation
- Maintain housekeeping and safety standards
Human Resource Management
- Develop team members through performance reviews (OPR)
- Ensure a positive industrial relations environment
- Build a technical pipeline for critical roles
- Oversee apprenticeship and artisan development programs
System and Instrumentation Integrity
- Maintain integrity of systems and manage change control
- Calibrate and maintain site instrumentation
Engineering Standards Compliance
- Ensure documented engineering standards are applied
- Develop and revise standards through ZBS Maintenance and Energy & Fluids
Maintenance Strategy
- Lead the maintenance strategy under VPO Maintenance Pillar
- Optimize use of the planned maintenance system
- Implement failure analysis, engineering spares strategy, and VPO processes
- Sustain improvements with the E&F toolkit
Project Management
- Deliver site projects on time and within budget
- Ensure full compliance with Management of Change (MOC) standards
Financial Management
- Manage ZBB maintenance and CAPEX budgets
- Control departmental costs and monitor utilities usage
- Take action on deviations and review financial performance
Value-Added & SWEEP Initiatives
- Source funding and implement value-adding initiatives
- Apply global best practices including SWEEP, GOPs, and Levers
Risk and Business Continuity
- Standardize BCP (Business Continuity Plans) for utilities
- Implement obsolescence mitigation strategies
- Share best practices in utilities management
- Monitor utilities quality through IQMS
- Enforce ammonia and steam safety management protocols
Safety and Infrastructure Portfolio Management
- Develop a 3-year plan for maintenance and replacement of plant equipment
- Ensure C&A infrastructure updates to address obsolescence
Environmental Operations
- Operate and maintain environmental equipment per best practices
- Maximize revenue from waste and by-products
Minimum Qualifications
- 3-year tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (e.g., B-Tech, BSc)
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) environment
