The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a qualified and dynamic professional to join the FUNGUO Innovation Programme as Communications, Outreach and Advocacy Analyst (Lead). About FUNGUO Innovation Programme

FUNGUO is a UNDP-led initiative focused on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by supporting innovative startups and MSMEs across Tanzania. The programme is co-funded by the European Union, the UK Government (ATIP), the Government of Finland, and UNDP. It works closely with partners such as COSTECH and other government bodies to strengthen Tanzania’s innovation ecosystem, drive job creation—especially for youth and women—and foster inclusive economic progress.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications, Branding & Digital Engagement

  • Design and implement communication strategies to position FUNGUO as a premier innovation platform
  • Ensure brand consistency across all materials and campaigns
  • Manage and grow digital presence (website, social media, multimedia)
  • Analyze audience engagement and optimize digital outreach strategies

Content Creation, Storytelling & Knowledge Management

  • Develop compelling stories, blogs, and case studies showcasing programme impact
  • Tailor content for partners, media, and public audiences
  • Maintain knowledge-sharing resources and lessons learned
  • Ensure editorial quality of all communications

Advocacy, Media Relations & Public Engagement

  • Lead strategic advocacy campaigns to highlight innovation as a tool for national development
  • Engage with media partners and coordinate press outreach
  • Prepare press kits, talking points, and support public speaking engagements

Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem Visibility

  • Collaborate with the Partnerships Lead on events like Innovation Week Tanzania
  • Build partnerships with development partners, private sector, and media
  • Support co-branded initiatives and outreach campaigns to boost visibility
  • Position FUNGUO as a leader in innovation and entrepreneurship

Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact Reporting

  • Develop KPIs and tools to track communication effectiveness
  • Monitor outreach metrics and prepare periodic impact reports
  • Use evidence-based insights to refine strategies

Reporting

This role reports directly to the Programme Manager – FUNGUO Innovation Programme.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, or related fields
  • A Bachelor’s degree with two additional years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of a Master’s

Experience

  • 2+ years (with Bachelor's) in communication, branding, stakeholder engagement, or related fields
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, remote collaboration tools (Teams, Zoom)
  • Proven communication strategy and content development skills
  • Experience organizing complex multi-stakeholder events
  • Past work with UN/international organizations is a plus
  • Experience in Tanzania’s innovation, entrepreneurship, or startup ecosystem

Skills

  • Fluency in English and Swahili
  • Advanced digital and social media skills
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and public engagement capability
  • Understanding of Tanzania’s development agenda and the SDGs
  • Familiarity with donor-funded initiatives and public-private partnerships
  • Professional certifications are an added advantage
