About the Role
The Aga Khan Foundation, in partnership with TGNP and with support from the Irish Embassy Tanzania, is seeking a dynamic and committed Project Assistant to support implementation of the Tuinuke Pamoja Project in the Dodoma region. This project is focused on promoting gender equality and social inclusion, especially among women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
The Project Assistant will play an essential role in implementing, monitoring, and supporting project activities at the grassroots level in collaboration with community groups, Local Government Authorities (LGAs), and other stakeholders. This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute meaningfully to transformative social change while enhancing your experience in gender and community development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the identification, engagement, and capacity building of grassroots groups
- Facilitate and monitor project activities at community and district levels
- Collaborate with LGAs, TGNP, AKF, and stakeholders to enhance project impact
- Assist in data collection, Monitoring-Evaluation-Research-Learning (MERL) activities, and coordination of field visits
- Promote gender mainstreaming and inclusivity in all project interventions
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Community Development, Social Studies, Gender, or related field
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on gender equality projects with grassroots groups and local authorities
- Experience designing community mobilization and awareness activities for gender equality
- Proficiency in data collection and usage for project improvement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and management abilities, able to work under minimal supervision
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive and constructive attitude
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to engage directly with communities and support local groups in their activities
- Fluent in both Kiswahili and English
- Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant applications
- Understanding of Dodoma’s cultural context and ability to tailor approaches accordingly
- Solid knowledge of gender and social inclusion issues and child/community safeguarding practices
