The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS), known in Swahili as Sekretarieti ya Ajira katika Utumishi wa Umma, is an independent government department responsible for facilitating the recruitment of civil servants in Tanzania. It was established under the Public Service Act No. 8 of 2002, later amended by Act No. 18 of 2007 (Section 29(1)). The goal of PSRS is to ensure transparent, fair, and timely recruitment to improve service delivery across government institutions.
The vision of PSRS is to become a Centre of Excellence in public service recruitment within the region. Its mission is to use modern and professional recruitment practices grounded in equity, transparency, and merit, while advising employers on employment-related matters.
