Vodacom is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our agile Customer Business Unit (CBU) team. This role is vital in ensuring that products and services meet the required quality standards from conception to deployment. Role Purpose
The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist will oversee the end-to-end pre and post-development processes of features, ensuring that all designed products and services meet Vodacom’s quality standards. This includes designing and implementing tests, identifying deficiencies, debugging, and tracking quality assurance metrics. The role also involves supporting software-related operations, including Level 2 and Level 3 incident and problem management.
Key Responsibilities
- Review technical design documents to ensure quality and coding standard compliance
- Design and implement acceptance tests for user and technical stories
- Validate solutions against acceptance criteria, utilizing automation tools
- Debug tests and provide corrective actions
- Track QA metrics such as defect density and early life incidents
- Suggest improvements to user stories and user experience
- Collaborate with developers and business teams to enhance product quality
Required Core Competencies and Experience
- Hands-on experience in solution and software test design, execution, and validation
- Strong background in unit testing, integration, static code analysis, performance and security testing
- Familiarity with test automation tools like Selenium
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
- Understanding of telecommunications, digital services, and industry trends
- Proficient in programming/scripting languages such as JavaScript, Ruby, SQL, Python
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
- 1–3 years of relevant work experience in software QA, testing, or systems analysis
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies and agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, XP, BDD, TDD, ATDD)
- Experience writing and executing test cases and working with modern development pipelines
- Certifications like Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) are an added advantage
- UX competency and experience in telecommunications industry preferred
