Established in 1995, Standard Bank Tanzania provides full commercial banking services, serving public and private sector corporations, diplomatic missions, and international organizations.

Job Summary

The Analyst, Client is responsible for evaluating counter-party credit risks related to Business Banking lending at the client interface. The primary goal is to ensure credit risk is managed within acceptable parameters while supporting business growth and profitability.

Strategic Focus and Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist credit evaluation services at the point of deal negotiation.
  • Identify credit and risk management requirements early in the business proposal process.
  • Conduct credit evaluation interviews to assess business risk and deal viability from a credit perspective.
  • Decline non-viable deals while collaborating with Managers and Relationship Managers to find alternatives within risk and profitability parameters.
  • Develop high-quality credit solutions and recommend appropriate facilities for fast credit approval.
  • Present and defend credit decisions to clients professionally, maintaining good business relationships.
  • Prepare credit facility proposals with origination managers and relationship managers to support approval processes.
  • Identify, quantify, and evaluate sources of risk related to business profitability and financial viability.
  • Use industry risk analysis to understand contextual threats to clients.
  • Recommend credit facilities, covenants, and terms in line with risk evaluations.
  • Work with Relationship Managers on new and existing credit applications, providing guidance and consulting with product partners.
  • Liaise with Head of Credit and sanctioning managers for credits outside standard risk discretion.
  • Attend customer meetings regarding credit-related issues.
  • Support change management initiatives for process improvement, quality enhancement, and cost reduction.
  • Coordinate sanction letter approvals, documentation execution, and facility drawdowns.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  1. Bachelor of Commerce or related qualification.
  2. Additional qualifications such as ACCA or CPA are a bonus.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years in Banking and/or Financial Services.
  • At least 2 years in credit roles.
