Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) is inviting qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Assistant Manager – Credit. This position plays a critical role in controlling credit risk, managing under-performing accounts, and strengthening the bank’s overall credit quality.
Job Purpose
To oversee and manage credit risk within the loan book of the bank, focusing on reviewing Credit Applications (CAs), resolving high-value under-performing accounts, and implementing effective monitoring and control frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Review Credit Applications (CAs) to identify and mitigate credit risk elements before submission to the Management Credit Committee.
- Manage high-value under-performing accounts, including renegotiation, restructuring, and workouts, with the aim of improving performance and retention.
- Monitor the overall loan portfolio closely, identify early warning signals, and ensure timely corrective actions are implemented by business units.
- Improve the bank’s credit control framework continuously to maintain high-quality lending standards.
- Provide enhanced supervision for low-rated, stressed, and watchlist accounts, including Non-Performing Assets (NPAs).
Remediation Activities Include:
- Reviewing client business viability and historical performance.
- Evaluating projected financials to assess recovery potential.
- Conducting physical visits to client premises and inspecting collateral.
- Organizing regular meetings with clients and service providers (lawyers, auctioneers, valuers, investigators).
- Coordinating with fundraising agents where necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
- A Master’s degree or Postgraduate qualification in Business, Commerce, or Economics will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Corporate or Credit Lending within a leading Tanzanian bank.
Personal Attributes and Skills
- Strong analytical, evaluation, and communication skills.
- Proven track record in credit analysis and risk management.
- Strong relationship management and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of debt structuring and covenant-setting practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Loan Origination Systems (LOS), and Core Banking Systems (CBS).
