The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange PLC (DSE) is inviting applications from dynamic, motivated, and high-integrity professionals to join its team as a Market Operations Officer. Established in 1996 and self-listed since 2016, DSE plays a central role in Tanzania’s capital markets by providing a platform for trading securities and supporting companies to raise capital through shares and bonds.

Job Purpose

The Market Operations Officer will oversee the daily trading and operational activities of the market. This includes ensuring that all trades are executed, settled, and processed accurately, efficiently, and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for resolving and escalating real-time market incidents.
  • Monitor market participant compliance with trading rules and continuous disclosure obligations.
  • Serve and engage with various stakeholders such as brokers, custodians, system vendors, compliance officers, auditors, and regulators.
  • Perform real-time market monitoring, code alerts within set timeframes, and follow trading procedures.
  • Manage queries from stakeholders in line with trading rules, policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain operational records, perform statistical analysis, and prepare reports for management, audits, and regulators.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to manage continuous disclosure obligations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce operational risk and enhance customer experience.
  • Participate in knowledge management and contribute to technical change initiatives.
  • Investigate, reconcile, and resolve mismatches in trade confirmations.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new system applications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Accounting, or related fields from a recognized institution.
  • Certification in Securities Markets, Securities Investment & Trading (SIT), or Risk Management is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in a reputable organization.
  • Desirable experience in: econometrics, statistical analysis, market performance monitoring, regulatory analysis, or stock exchange operations.
  • Solid understanding of stock exchange systems and regional/global economic dynamics.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion are essential.
