NBC is currently hiring a qualified and experienced professional to fill the position of Relationship Officer – SME.
Job Title: Relationship Officer SME
Job Summary
The Relationship Officer will be responsible for acquiring and managing relationships with Small and Medium Business (SME) customers using a proactive and consultative approach. The officer will focus on delivering holistic financial solutions, maintaining high-quality customer service, and managing portfolio risk in line with NBC's policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Relationship Management – 40%
- Maximize client profitability by identifying and growing relationships within the SME portfolio
- Deliver personalized, value-added engagement through face-to-face meetings and consistent communication
- Understand clients’ business cycles and financial needs with the support of product specialists
- Build and manage a pipeline of business opportunities
- Maintain a relationship management plan for Top 10 borrowing and non-borrowing clients
- Keep detailed records of all client interactions
Customer Service – 20%
- Provide accurate responses to customer inquiries regarding products and services
- Handle and resolve complaints professionally and promptly
- Maintain up-to-date client documentation and correspondence
- Coordinate effectively with internal departments to ensure seamless customer experience
- Educate clients on NBC’s product offerings and collect feedback for improvement
Compliance and Risk Management – 20%
- Ensure compliance with KYC, AML, and Sanctions policies
- Review client portfolios monthly to ensure documentation is up to date
- Sign off on loan applications and related documents with attention to quality
- Identify and mitigate risks by monitoring transaction patterns and maintaining credit files
- Respond promptly to reports on loans in arrears and credit excesses
Teamwork and Networking – 10%
- Participate in daily branch and knowledge-sharing meetings
- Maintain constant communication with Retail, Corporate, and Credit departments
- Represent the bank in local community and business functions
- Collaborate with Product Specialists and share performance feedback
Self-Development – 10%
- Stay updated on internal policies, compliance training, and circulars
- Invest in professional development aligned with career progression
- Complete mandatory compliance learning and skill enhancement courses
Education and Experience Required
- Advanced Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of banking experience

- Strong business and financial analysis skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and banking systems
- Strong understanding of credit processes

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Business, Commerce, or Management
