BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania is hiring 8 Technical Sector Officers – Community to support its social empowerment and community engagement programmes. These positions will play a key role in advancing gender and social inclusion, disability inclusion, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and advocacy across several regions in Tanzania.

About the Programme
In partnership with the MasterCard Foundation, BRAC is implementing an initiative aimed at empowering 1.2 million adolescent girls and young women across seven African countries. The programme delivers scalable, community-based economic development solutions and advocates for the rights and voices of young women.
Position Summary
The Technical Support Officer – Community Mobilization (TSO-CM) will support community engagement activities and contribute to inclusive development at the grassroots level. The TSO-CM will help implement interventions related to GESI, SRHR, SGBV, disability inclusion, and local advocacy. The officers will also strengthen the capacities of staff and local actors, while ensuring BRAC’s programme quality and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
A. Technical Support
- Support field team in inception phase activities including community mobilization and surveys.
- Train regional staff and mentors on GESI, GBV, SRHR, and community engagement.
- Plan and implement social behavior change communication (SBCC) sessions targeting key local figures.
- Assist community leaders in action plan development and follow-up.
- Guide identification and adaptation of safe, inclusive club spaces.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and participate in regional working groups.
- Support youth advocates in creating and executing advocacy plans.
- Lead community action planning and sustainability sessions at the end of each cohort.
B. Coordination, Planning, and Partnerships
- Maintain stakeholder engagement across government, NGOs, CSOs, and youth groups.
- Organize observance day events (e.g., Women’s Day, 16 Days of Activism).
- Help implement a monitoring framework for advocacy initiatives.
C. Reporting, Documentation, and Communication
- Contribute to timely and quality reports and MIS updates.
- Conduct quality assurance of case management data.
- Document best practices, success stories, and lessons learned.
D. Policy and Strategy Compliance
- Promote awareness of BRAC’s Enabling Environment Strategy and GESI guidelines.
- Support in developing policy-related materials and training content.
E. Safeguarding
- Promote safeguarding practices among team members.
- Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies and promptly report incidents.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in International Development, Gender Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, or related Social Sciences.Experience
- 3–5 years in gender equality, SRHR, SGBV, and community advocacy roles.
- Experience in technical assistance and integrated programmes for adolescent girls and young women is a plus.
- Previous work in SBCC message development and community mobilization.
Competencies
- Strong facilitation, training, and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and presentation tools.
- Cultural competency, empathy, and a proactive team spirit.
