WWF-Tanzania is seeking a Head of Finance to join our operations team and lead the financial planning and management of the Tanzania Country Office.


Position Summary

Reports To: Country Director, Tanzania Country Office
Supervises: All Finance Staff in the Tanzania Country Office
Location: Dar es Salaam
Grade: 53


Department Mission

To ensure a high-performing Tanzania Country Office with efficient systems, professional and skilled staff, and strong financial resources, delivering measurable conservation impact aligned with WWF’s global priorities.


Major Functions

  • Supervise and coordinate policies, procedures, and systems for all financial services in the Tanzania Country Office including accounting, reporting, auditing, budgeting, and internal controls.
  • Provide strategic support to the Country Director in operational planning and fundraising.
  • Submit quarterly financial reports to the Director of Finance & Operations – Africa and advise on financial risks and improvement areas.


Duties and Responsibilities

A. Operational Planning

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Operational Plan.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual operational/project budgets and forecasts in collaboration with project staff.
  • Review all project proposals and ensure full funding of project budgets.

B. Financial Reporting

  • Ensure all WWF field offices in Tanzania have appropriate structures and qualified staff.
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial information to internal and external stakeholders including WWF Africa Regional Office and WWF International.
  • Coordinate the preparation of consolidated financial reports and timely transfer of data.
  • Oversee consultancy contracts, sub-grants, and ensure compliance with obligations.
  • Organize internal and external audits and follow up on audit recommendations.
  • Coordinate fund transfers and calls for funds in collaboration with WWF ROA.
  • Supervise and evaluate the finance team performance across all WWF Tanzania offices.

C. Policies, Procedures, and Systems

  • Ensure the application of WWF’s International Field Office Procedures.
  • Ensure legal compliance with Tanzanian regulations and adapt internal policies accordingly.
  • Oversee installation and maintenance of financial systems, including ERP (Oracle).
  • Collaborate with the Head of People & Culture on host country agreements, work permits, and institutional obligations.


Profile

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and full professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Master’s degree in Finance or MBA.
  • Minimum 8 years of post-qualification experience in financial management, preferably in international organizations.
  • Experience with ERP software, especially Oracle.
  • Proven experience in donor and government engagement.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Head of Finance oversees all finance personnel in the Tanzania Country Office and plays a central role in hiring, developing, and evaluating finance team members across the office network.


Working Relationships

Internal: Close interaction with finance, administrative, and project staff in all Tanzania Country Office locations as well as regional and international WWF offices.
External: Engages with government bodies, donors, and other stakeholders, in coordination with the Country Director.
