About MSF
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to populations affected by conflicts, epidemics, natural disasters, and health exclusion. MSF operates independently and upholds neutrality and impartiality in all its missions. Since 1993, MSF has supported Tanzania’s health sector with various health interventions.
Currently, MSF is supporting seven health facilities in Liwale District, focusing on maternal and child health under five, including referrals, WASH services, medical supplies, and workforce empowerment.
Main Purpose of the Job
To transport authorized goods and passengers in MSF vehicles while ensuring safety, proper maintenance, and adherence to traffic and MSF security rules.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily and weekly vehicle checks (tires, oil, brakes, fuel, etc.)
- Drive safely while adhering to road and MSF security regulations
- Ensure all passengers have proper documentation and sign disclaimers if required
- Handle proper loading/unloading of goods and verify delivery documents
- Ensure vehicle and personal documents are valid and available
- Report any incidents during transportation
- Operate radio communication equipment and follow MSF’s communication protocols
- Ensure security compliance at customs, checkpoints, and during all movements
Qualifications
Education:
- Basic literacy (essential)
- Valid Tanzanian Driving License – Category C1 (essential)
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience
- NGO or MSF driving experience, especially with 4×4 vehicles (desirable)
Skills:
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics
- Familiarity with roads in Liwale District (an added advantage)
Languages:
- Basic English and Kiswahili (essential)
