Main Purpose

The CNG Operations and Maintenance Technician is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems at the CNG filling/mother/daughter station and related infrastructure. The role ensures operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with both local and international standards. The technician will be instrumental in maintaining system performance, responding to emergencies, conducting inspections, and coordinating with maintenance contractors to uphold the station’s reliability and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Operation & Maintenance:

  • Ensure the proper functioning of CNG compressors, dispensers, storage systems, and pipelines.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems, including compressors, dispensers, storage tanks, and pipeline infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair any mechanical or electrical faults affecting station equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty components to ensure continuous and efficient operations.
  • Ensure that CNG station, maintenance areas, and all equipment are kept clean, organized, and free from safety hazards.
  • Maintain high hygiene standards in the station’s mechanical and electrical rooms, in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national safety regulations.

  • Monitor gas pressure, leakage, and emergency shutdown systems.

  • Implement emergency procedures in case of gas leaks, fires, or other hazardous situations, following safety protocols strictly.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization:

  • Perform regular inspections of all station systems, equipment, and safety devices (e.g., pressure relief valves, gas leak detection systems, fire suppression systems).
  • Monitor station performance metrics, identifying early signs of equipment malfunctions or inefficiencies.
  • Test and calibrate equipment such as gas dispensers, pressure gauges, and compressors to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
  • Manage energy consumption and improve efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and operational data.

Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Respond quickly and effectively to any operational emergencies or equipment failures.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for spare parts and technical support.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare reports on downtime, repairs, and overall station efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs and report the status of equipment and any corrective actions taken.
  • Submit periodic reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and safety audits.
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of tools, spares, and other materials required for ongoing maintenance work.

Team Coordination & Training:

  • Train site operators on CNG station operation, safety procedures, and emergency response.
  • Work with CNG engineer, site manager, and station operators to ensure smooth operations.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in maintenance or operations of mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation systems, preferably in CNG.
  • Certification in CNG operations, safety procedures, or electrical/mechanical maintenance is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of CNG systems, including turbine flowmeters, dryers, filters, compressors, cascade storage, and dispensers.
  • Strong understanding of HSSE regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in operations management and maintenance coordination.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Skills

  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
  • Familiarity with HSE regulations in CNG operations.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to work with contractors and internal teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency situations promptly.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software is a plus.
