Job Description

The Regional Grant Coordinator will be responsible for leading and coordinating the implementation of the BLOOM project within the designated region. Reporting to the BLOOM Grant Manager, the role involves 50% coordination, ensuring timely execution of project deliverables, and collaborative work with field teams and stakeholders in alignment with the BLOOM project’s objectives and implementation plans.


Key Responsibilities

a) Coordination

  • Act as the main regional contact for all BLOOM project activities.
  • Ensure effective communication between field teams, the Grant Manager, and project collaborators.
  • Support field teams in adhering to project timelines.
  • Collaborate with Finance Focal Points in Field Offices to monitor budget execution and reporting.
  • Work with the VVYI Youth Ready team to align BLOOM activities with World Vision’s broader youth initiatives.

b) Building Partnerships

  • Develop and manage partnerships with TVETs, MFIs, businesses, and corporations to support youth access to education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
  • Promote BLOOM as a CSR initiative, engaging corporate partners in youth employment and training.
  • Implement business training, internship, and microloan programs.
  • Collaborate with local and international partners to support youth-focused economic development.

c) Capacity Building

  • Train and guide local staff and stakeholders.
  • Work with the VVYI Youth Ready team to strengthen technical capacities in youth programming.

d) Networking and Events

  • Help plan and execute job fairs, entrepreneurship fairs, education fairs, and mentorship events.
  • Represent the project in regional and global youth empowerment events.
  • Facilitate the creation of youth networks, including the East African Youth Alliance.

e) Impact Measurement

  • Support Field Offices with MEAL activities to ensure timely, quality reporting.
  • Track and report the outcomes of partnership strategies and project impact.


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • At least 7 years of experience in managing donor-funded development projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of Global Affairs Canada’s donor requirements; experience with multilateral donors is an asset.
  • Experience managing multi-country programs and collaborating with field teams.
  • Proven skills in partnership development and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in youth-focused initiatives, including education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
  • Familiarity with MEAL systems and donor reporting standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination abilities.


Other Requirements

  • Based in one of the implementing countries in East Africa (Rwanda, Tanzania, Somalia, Ethiopia, Burundi, or Kenya).
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); Swahili, Kinyarwanda, or Somali is a plus.
  • Willing to travel internationally approximately 2 times per year, including to high-risk areas.
