Position Overview
Job Title: Driver
Reports to: Project Executant (with dotted line to TCO Logistic Officer)
Location: Kilwa, Tanzania
Supervises: None
The Driver will be responsible for providing driving and vehicle maintenance services for the WWF Programme and support staff, while ensuring compliance with WWF operational policies.
Major Responsibilities
- Drive WWF Programme officers, partners, and visitors to field activities, meetings, and work-related events.
- Ensure all vehicles are properly maintained and serviced as scheduled.
- Maintain detailed logbooks in accordance with WWF policies, recording journeys, fuel/lubricants inputs, and vehicle maintenance records.
- Handle pickup and delivery of documents, mail, purchased goods, and office items.
- Provide administrative support when not driving, including photocopying, cleaning, and minor office maintenance.
- Assist projects with photography support when required.
- Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors or relevant WWF-TCO authorities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of Ordinary Secondary School Certificate (Form IV).
- Valid Class C driving license.
- Basic vehicle maintenance/mechanics certification (e.g., Trade Test Certificate).
- At least 3 years of driving experience, preferably in both urban and rural/remote settings.
- Experience with Natural Resources Conservation Projects is an added advantage.
- Good communication skills in Kiswahili and functional English.
- Strong knowledge of safe driving techniques and basic auto maintenance.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Experience working with international NGOs or donor-funded programmes is desirable.
Working Relationships
Internal: Close collaboration with Tuhifadhi Bahari Yetu Programme staff, other WWF Tanzania Country Office teams, and guests/consultants from global WWF and IUCN offices.
Reporting to: Project Executant and TCO Logistic Officer (dotted line).
