Vodacom Tanzania is seeking a highly skilled Finance Manager for P2P (Procure-to-Pay) and Opex Accounting to join their Finance Operations team. This role is pivotal in ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency across the company’s payment processes and expense accounting.
Role Purpose
The Finance Manager – P2P and Opex Accounting is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of supplier payments, managing travel and expense claims, and overseeing operating expenditure accounting. The role supports compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements while driving process improvements within the P2P cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Process Management
- Ensure supplier invoices are accurately processed, matched with purchase orders and delivery receipts.
- Manage supplier payment schedules to optimize cash flow and take advantage of early payment discounts.
- Guarantee payments comply with internal policies, tax laws, and financial reporting standards.
- Handle supplier disputes and payment discrepancies professionally and promptly.
- Maintain audit-ready, complete records of all payments.
- Monitor and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for payment processing by the Shared Services team.
- Collaborate with procurement and business units to improve efficiency and vendor satisfaction.
- Lead automation and continuous improvement initiatives in the P2P process.
Operating Expenditure (Opex) Accounting & Analysis
- Monitor and record all operating expenses in line with budgets and actual expenditures.
- Ensure accurate month-end close activities including accruals and reconciliations for Opex.
- Analyze Opex trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
- Report monthly Opex analysis covering areas such as GRIR (Goods Received Invoice Received), travel and expenses, manual payments, and one-time vendor transactions.
Travel & Expense (T&E) Management
- Oversee timely and accurate accounting of travel and expense claims following Vodafone Group policies.
- Ensure consistent implementation of T&E policies across the organization.
- Monitor T&E submissions for compliance, accuracy, and timely reimbursements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the T&E experience and controls.
Governance, Compliance & Controls
- Oversee month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure correctness and completeness of financial transactions.
- Enforce adherence to internal controls, policies, and external regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits with timely and accurate documentation.
- Assess risks continuously and implement control improvements.
- Promote a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance team.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Competencies & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Professional accounting certification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial operations.
- Experience in shared services environments and working with cross-functional teams is highly valued.
- Telecommunications or large corporate experience is a plus.
- Auditing experience is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and support strategic decisions.
- Solid understanding of IFRS, budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting standards.
- High attention to detail for accurate financial record-keeping and payment processing.
- Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and data analytics/visualization tools (Power BI, Excel, Qlik Sense).
- Comprehensive knowledge of local tax laws, regulatory compliance, and company policies related to payments and expenses.
- Effective problem-solving skills for vendor disputes and financial discrepancies.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven leadership and mentoring abilities to foster team development and accountability.
