Main Purpose

To execute stock management activities—receipt, storage, and issuance of medical supplies, equipment, food items, tools, and logistics materials—in line with MSF standards and protocols. This role ensures the continuous and efficient functioning of MSF's operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise materials orders and dispatch to ensure rational use of goods.
  • Receive deliveries and verify contents against the cargo manifest; report any discrepancies.
  • Update or create stock cards immediately upon goods reception.
  • Store goods in a structured, accessible, and secured manner with correct labeling and tracking.
  • Monitor cold chain systems, including the control of temperature-sensitive items and cold boxes.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of the warehouse, with restricted access to authorized personnel only.
  • Prepare outbound shipments, labeling freight with full shipping details according to instructions.
  • Conduct physical stock counts as per the set schedule and report on stock levels, expiries, and alarms.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate stock reports.
  • Immediately report damages, losses, or attempted thefts to the line manager.

About the Project

MSF has been active in Tanzania since 1993 and is currently supporting 7 health facilities in Liwale District through an integrated health approach. These include district hospitals and health centers offering CEmONC and BEmONC services. The support also covers recruitment, medical supply, infrastructure rehabilitation, and water and sanitation activities.

Qualifications

  • Education: Essential secondary education; training in warehouse management preferred.

  • Experience: Previous experience as a storekeeper is desirable.

  • Skills:

    • Basic mathematics and measuring tools proficiency.

    • Computer literacy (Excel, Word) is desirable.

    • Basic repair skills are an added advantage.

  • Languages: Fluency in English and Kiswahili (spoken and written) is essential.
