Job Purpose
The Tobacco Process Operator will be responsible for carrying out tobacco processing activities by operating machinery efficiently, ensuring quality output, maintaining equipment condition, and promoting workplace safety and cleanliness. This role requires proficiency in operating Lamina Conditioning/Casing and Stem Conditioning work centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate tobacco processing machinery in line with provided SAP work orders, standard procedures, and supervisory instructions.
- Ensure each processed batch meets organizational quality standards by closely monitoring SCADA systems and adjusting process parameters as needed.
- Conduct inspections and cleaning of the tobacco process line before and after operation, especially when switching between different tobacco blends.
- Maintain a safe working environment by wearing proper safety gear such as gloves, masks, goggles, safety shoes, ear plugs, and uniforms, especially during equipment cleaning and maintenance.
- Uphold cleanliness in the working area throughout the shift by following machine cleaning procedures and proper arrangement of tools.
- Maintain effective communication with the Process Lead and other team members to ensure uninterrupted operations between work centers.
- Demonstrate teamwork by supporting colleagues and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Full Technician Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in tobacco processing operations.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Understanding of both English and Kiswahili.
