Job Description
The Branch Manager will be responsible for meeting branch Retail and SME financial targets through world-class sales and service management within the bank’s product programs. The role requires close collaboration with the Central Operations Unit to maintain a smooth and operationally efficient branch that complies with Bank of Tanzania (BOT) regulations, rules, and guidelines. The manager will also be involved in servicing corporate customers.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate the branch team to deliver excellent business performance and superior customer experiences.
- Drive business growth focusing on CASA (Current Account Savings Account) and fee income through product sales and customer service excellence.
- Understand the customer base and identify opportunities to build profitable and long-lasting relationships.
- Acquire new customers while retaining and growing relationships with existing clients.
- Ensure operational efficiency and productivity of branch staff.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of integrated banking systems and ensure accurate record-keeping, including inter-bank transactions.
- Prepare periodic and statutory reports for management review.
- Ensure compliance with branch control procedures, especially regarding financial security.
- Take ownership in resolving complex customer issues, working collaboratively with colleagues in other branches for seamless service delivery.
- Promote a strong service culture by coaching and motivating staff.
- Participate in community engagement activities to enhance the bank’s visibility and business opportunities.
- Act as the MCSOP / Operations Manager in their absence as directed by the Cluster Head.
- Set challenging performance and business objectives and develop individual team members’ capabilities.
- Monitor team effectiveness and recommend improvements to meet sales and customer satisfaction goals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the banking industry, preferably with exposure to retail and SME banking.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Good knowledge of relevant banking legislation, sales, and business principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent decision-making abilities.
- Ability to build strong customer relationships and think strategically.
- Resilience and ability to perform under pressure.
- Commitment to adhere to the bank’s procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
