Dangote Cement Limited is seeking a qualified and experienced Payroll Officer to support the implementation of its compensation strategy and handle payroll and statutory remittances for all employees in DCP Tanzania.
Job Summary
The Payroll Officer will provide administrative and operational support in the implementation of compensation policies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in payroll processing, statutory deductions, and compliance with tax regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Senior Compensation & Benefits Officer to implement competitive compensation strategies and policies.
- Administer company compensation in compliance with relevant tax laws and internal policies.
- Maintain payroll system accuracy and ensure timely salary processing.
- Coordinate with manpower providers to manage contract staff payrolls.
- Handle remittance of statutory deductions (PAYE, pensions, etc.).
- Review payroll invoices and validate schedules in line with monthly instructions.
- Prepare and issue payroll-related communications (e.g., payslips, salary changes).
- Maintain an updated compensation database and generate reports on staff costs.
- Support reconciliation of headcount and compensation data.
- Interpret performance scores and assist with related remuneration decisions.
- Conduct compensation surveys and compute remuneration packages as needed.
- Respond to employee queries regarding payroll and compensation issues.
- Maintain employee records.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the department head.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Professional HR certification (e.g., CIPM) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll or compensation management.
Skills and Competencies:
- Understanding of industry trends and compensation frameworks.
- Knowledge of tax laws and remuneration methodologies.
- SAP experience is a plus.
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
