We are seeking a highly competent and self-motivated individual to fill the following position:
Job Title: Finance Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and financial systems are updated promptly under approved procedures and controls.
- Review proposal budgets, cost work plans, and amendments for completeness and accuracy before submission to the Head of Finance.
- Provide budgeting tools (templates, cost standards) to ensure consistency and accuracy across all departments and programs.
- Work with program staff and accountants to review monthly financial reports and cost plans, ensuring all variances are explained and followed up.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and submit them to the Head of Finance for review and onward reporting to the Head Office.
- Draft donor reports and ensure timely submission after internal review.
- Oversee accounting and tax-related operations, including financial reporting, budget control, cash management, tax planning, and legal compliance.
- Advise on regulatory changes (e.g. IFRS, government tax laws) affecting the organization’s financial operations and propose necessary adjustments.
- Manage bank accounts and facilitate money transfers between offices. Ensure monthly account reconciliations are conducted and relevant adjustments made.
- Liaise with external auditors and ensure completion of annual audits within deadlines and achievement of clean audit reports.
- Develop and implement robust financial systems, internal controls, and financial policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and timely submission of reports to relevant authorities.
- Identify areas of improvement in financial systems and processes and lead change implementation.
- Ensure full compliance with donor and loan agreement terms.
- Monitor project costs and provide monthly updates on over/under-spending to the Head of Finance.
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure team members are protected from abuse, harassment, neglect, and exploitation.
- Serve as a key resource and advocate for safeguarding across the organization.
- Implement and promote safeguarding standards in all work processes.
- Follow safeguarding reporting procedures in case of reportable incidents and encourage others to report as well.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, preferably in a fast-paced financial institution.
- CPA or ACCA certification is mandatory.
- Experience with Temenos (T24) Core Banking System is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of Income Tax, IFRS, IAS, and local financial laws.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a team-oriented mindset.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Entrepreneurship knowledge and competencies will be an advantage.
