Job Summary

Nyanza Cooperative Union (1984) Ltd (NCU) is seeking a General Manager to oversee its operations, assets, and strategic direction. As the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager will provide leadership, ensure compliance with cooperative policies, and drive operational excellence within the Union.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the Chief Executive Officer, managing all assets and operations of NCU.
• Provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the Union.
• Oversee day-to-day activities through subordinate departments and units.
• Develop work procedures for employees and present them for Board approval.
• Prepare and submit monthly financial statements and reports.
• Convene meetings in consultation with the Chairman.
• Prepare and present annual accounts for auditing and approval.
• Maintain accurate records of accounts, debts, assets, and stock warrants.
• Handle secretarial duties and manage contracts and agreements.
• Translate cooperative development policies into actionable plans.
• Ensure proper internal and external communication strategies.
• Approve payments while ensuring adherence to budgets and regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Cooperative Management, Economics, Public Administration, Agribusiness, Finance, or a related field.
• A Master’s Degree is an added advantage.

Work Experience

• Minimum three (3) years of work experience.
• At least two (2) years in a managerial position.

• High ethical standards, confidentiality, and adaptability.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
