NCBA Bank is seeking to hire a highly competent and experienced Senior Manager Financial Controller to lead and manage key finance functions in alignment with international standards and organizational objectives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing finance team in a reputable regional bank.
Job Purpose
The Senior Manager Financial Controller will be responsible for overall general ledger management, reconciliation policies, quality enhancement of product reporting, and revenue assurance. This role includes leadership of financial controls, systems assurance, IFRS compliance, and active oversight of internal and external audit processes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial (10%)
- Minimize operational losses through analytical review of trends and implementation of control improvements
- Enforce departmental cost management measures
Controls, Reconciliation, Product Control, and Revenue Assurance (60%)
- Oversee data quality and ledger maintenance
- Daily reconciliations of all suspense accounts and monthly reporting
- Monitor GL substantiations, approve new suspense accounts, and escalate aging items
- Ensure accurate product configuration in core banking systems in line with IFRS
- Analyze actual vs. expected product revenue and resolve revenue leaks
- Drive implementation of routine controls related to discounts, waivers, and revenue-affecting activities
- Oversee daily treasury P&L reconciliations, financial performance, and P&L tracking
- Supervise Calypso and Core system interfaces and resolve data flow issues
- Ensure compliance with BOT guidelines on unclaimed assets
- Represent the unit in projects involving GL
Customer (20%)
- Contribute to finance policies and strategic planning
- Provide first-level system support (Core Banking, SAP, Calypso)
- Ensure revenue recognition accuracy during product/system changes
- Maintain systems’ business continuity plans
- Prepare industry reports and support Board and management reports
- Close audit issues promptly and ensure SLA adherence
Learning & Growth (10%)
- Lead and develop finance staff through performance management and training
- Ensure team has proper tools and coordinate with HR and ICT
- Align training needs with organizational goals
- Implement leave schedules and enforce leave policy compliance
Reporting Structure
- Direct Reports: 1 Assistant Manager
- Indirect Reports: 2 Officers (Reconciliation & Revenue Assurance)
Stakeholder Management
- Internal: Treasury, Risk & Compliance, Internal Audit, Product Heads, Branch Managers, Senior Management
- External: BOT, External Auditors, INTELLIMATCH, Mobile Service Providers, Customers
Decision-Making Authority

Ideal Job Specifications
Academic Qualifications
- University Degree in Business or related discipline (minimum 2nd Upper Class or 3.0 GPA)
Professional Certifications
- CPA or ACCA required
- CIMA or equivalent is an added advantage
Work Experience
- Minimum 8 years in banking or financial services
- At least 4 years in a middle management role
- Experience with INTELLIMATCH, SAP, T24, and Calypso systems
