Equity Bank is seeking to hire a highly experienced and strategic Senior Manager, Innovation to join the Payments Department. This role plays a key part in developing and enhancing the bank’s digital payment solutions to drive customer experience and revenue growth, while staying ahead of emerging technologies and market trends.
Basic Purpose
The Senior Manager, Innovation will be responsible for leading the strategic development, optimization, and innovation of the bank’s payment channels. This includes digital platforms like mobile and internet banking, ATMs, POS, agency banking, and collaborations with fintechs and third-party providers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Payments Channels Management
- Oversee digital payment platforms including mobile banking, internet banking, ATMs, POS, and agency banking
- Ensure high availability, uptime, and efficiency across all channels
- Monitor transaction volumes, channel performance, and profitability
- Implement cost optimization strategies and improve customer satisfaction
Innovation & Product Development
- Lead development of new digital payment solutions using emerging technologies such as APIs and open banking
- Enhance payment processing speed, security, and reliability
- Identify partnership opportunities with fintechs and service providers
- Stay updated on market trends, technologies, and regulations
Strategic Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and execute payments strategy aligned with the bank’s digital roadmap
- Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Business Development teams
- Maintain strong external partnerships with fintechs, regulators, and payment networks
Compliance, Security & Risk Management
- Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to internal policy across all platforms
- Collaborate with Risk & Compliance teams to address cybersecurity threats and fraud risks
- Monitor and manage SLAs with vendors and technology partners
Customer Experience & Support
- Improve customer experience by ensuring seamless and secure payment transactions
- Support issue resolution with the customer service team
- Use data and customer feedback to introduce improvements and value-added features

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is an added advantage
Work Experience
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in payments, digital banking, or financial technology
- Deep understanding of digital payments: mobile money, real-time payments, card systems, and fintech innovations
- Experience managing fintech partnerships and third-party vendors
- Familiarity with regulatory standards related to digital payments and cybersecurity
- Proven success in driving innovation and leading teams in a financial institution
