About the Role

WFP Tanzania is recruiting for the position of National Finance Officer NOB, FTA based in Dar es Salaam. The role reports to the Head of Support Services and is central to effective fund management, budgeting, financial reporting, and administration to support WFP operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support financial strategies and provide technical input into programmatic initiatives
  • Assist in development of country-specific financial plans aligned with global strategy
  • Monitor budgets, forecast needs, and ensure timely reporting and compliance
  • Conduct bank reconciliations, manage disbursements, and oversee monthly financial closures
  • Deliver administrative support, HR coordination, and procurement oversight as needed
  • Identify improvements to systems and controls to reduce financial risks
  • Train and guide junior staff and serve as liaison with external stakeholders
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and rapid deployment planning
  • Ensure delivery of financial insights through internal control assessments and audits

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education:
Advanced university degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related fields. A first university degree with additional years of experience and professional certification (e.g., ACCA, ICPAU) is acceptable.

Language:
Fluency in English and the language of the duty station (Swahili).

Experience:

  • Experience in financial statement analysis
  • Proven ability in internal controls, audit, and financial policy implementation
  • Skilled in budget development, analytics, and risk assessments
  • Familiarity with financial systems and data management
  • Experience leading teams and presenting reports to varied stakeholders

Contract Type and Duration

Contract Type: Fixed-Term Appointment (FTA)
Contract Duration: 12 months with possible renewal based on performance
