DP World is hiring a Junior Financial Accountant to support financial data processing, account reconciliations, budget preparation, and financial reporting. This is a great opportunity to join a global logistics leader with a presence in over 77 countries.
Job Function
The successful candidate will be responsible for recording and classifying financial data, reconciling accounts, managing costs, analyzing financial performance, and assisting in budgeting and forecasting processes.
Key Accountabilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records including general ledger and monthly management accounts.
- Conduct detailed analysis comparing actuals vs. forecasted and budgeted figures.
- Post recurring and ad-hoc journal entries and handle general ledger transactions.
- Participate in month-end closing activities; coordinate with the global shared services team.
- Analyze gross profit performance and raise exception reports; liaise with operations for clarification.
- Assist operations teams in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding reconciling items.
- Review and resolve intercompany transaction queries and ensure timely validation.
- Prepare payment proposals in line with contractual payment terms.
- Follow up with clients on outstanding receivables.
- Generate weekly cash flow forecasts for financial planning.
- Upload bank statements and conduct regular bank reconciliations.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
- File and reconcile VAT, income tax, withholding tax, and other statutory obligations.
- Compile monthly reporting packs using Hyperion or other financial systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance (BCom Finance or equivalent).
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in financial accounting roles.
- Experience in the Clearing and Forwarding sector is an advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure with strong attention to detail and time management.
- Proven multitasking capabilities and effective prioritization to meet targets.
- Adaptability to fast-paced and dynamic business environments.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
